• SBC Supports Local Bike Events & Nonprofit Organizations

Since arriving in Salida nearly a decade ago, we’ve worked in a number of ways to improve the local riding scene and to support local nonprofits.

One of these projects is the excellent Salida Mountain Trails project immediately north of the Salida Bike Company.  This community trail system created fun singletrack trails accessible right from downtown.  Areas that used to be little more than dumping grounds are now graced with trails.  Stop by the shop to pick up a trail map for the Salida Mountain Trails.  Salida Bike Company gives a 5% discount to Salida Mountain Trails members and then matches the dollar amount of the discount as a DONATION to Salida Mountain Trails!

Starting in 2014, Salida Bike Company is a top-level sponsor of Salida Racing – the Salida High School Mountain Bike Team.  Congratulations on a Third-place finish in the state of Colorado. SBC donated new race-ready mountain bikes to two team members, and Amber volunteers as a coach.

Salida Bike Company is helping the new Bike to Recovery Program, which donates bikes to people on probation and doing community service.  The program was started by Salida attorney, Ramsey Lama.  Lama noticed that transportation is a major issue for people who cannot drive and need to get to appointments and community service, especially in rural areas without public transportation options.  He hopes to expand the program beyond Chaffee County, to surrounding areas.  Bikes can be donated to the Chaffee County Probation Department.  Salida Bike Company and Larry Kovacic will donate their time to fix up any bikes that need it.  CALL 719-221-5412 to donate!

Salida Bike Company is a top-level Salida Cycling Club formerly South Central Racing donor.  SCR members will receive a 10% disount at SBC!

Salida Bike Company supports the Salida Classic and the FiBArk Cruiser Crit!

Another project that the owners and staff have supported continually is the Monarch Crest Crank fundraising ride for the Alliance Against Domestic Abuse. For the last few years, we’ve worked as support riders and trail mechanics for this excellent event that supports AADA’s work to eliminate domestic  violence in Salida, Buena Vista and throughout Chaffee County.

Salida Bike Company is a member of People for Bikes formerly Bikes Belong.

Outside the realm of bikes, co-owner Amber has worked for several years on animal issues with the Ark-Valley Humane Society. Bike are beautiful and so are pets.  Your dogs are most welcome inside the Salida Bike Company!
