Where to Camp
  • Where to Camp

    Salida East

For quick and easy affordable camping, drive east of Salida on US 50 just a couple of miles to Salida East.  Just look for the other campers and pull in.  You won’t be alone, but you will be on the banks on the Arkansas River.  You can fly fish here too.  There are also a few more campgrounds along the Arkansas River both east and north of town.  Check it out here – AHRA Camping.

Monarch Pass, Cottonwood Pass & Poncha Pass

There are several Forest Service camping areas near Salida on the different mountain passes leading out of town.  Check it out here – USFS Camping.

RV & Pop-Up Camping…or if you want to camp AND shower

If you’ve got an RV or a Pop-Up or just don’t want to leave your vehicle and gear unsupervised, check out the many excellent private campgrounds in the area – Private Campgrounds.
Finally, if you’re just too dirtbag or stealth for the above, check out your BLM and USFS maps, learn the regs and throw a bag down.  Please treat the area gently.
