Hot Springs – Soak Away Your Sore Legs
Hot water bubbles up from the ground many places near Salida, perfect for soaking sore muscles after riding or just relaxing while watching the stars. Here are some of our favorites.
Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort
Just a 30 minute drive north of Salida, hot water flows from the ground at the base of Mount Princeton (14,197 feet). This resort offers a large hot pool, a cooler pool for splashing around with the kids and the gem, a section of Chalk Creek where you can actually sit in the river and let the hot water flow through. If you get too hot, just jump in the other side of the river, it’s snow melt and frigid.
The resort also has a spa, cabins, hotel rooms and a water slide (open only in summer). If you have kids, this is the best place to go. If you want to camp, there are a few US Forest Service campgrounds farther up the road (CR 162). www.MtPrinceton.com

It’s especially good at sunset. 3 small pools of various temperatures. Joyful Journey also has yurts, camping and hotel rooms. But no food, so bring your food. www.JoyfulJourneyHotSprings.com
